Geog 200 — Cultural Geography 3

A survey of the basis theories, methods, and findings of paleontology, human prehistory, and culture. Taught as needed.

Geog 206 — Physical Geography 3

An introductory survey emphasizing ways in which the physical environment influences global human activity, both directly and indirectly. These influences act through climate, landforms, soils, and vegetation. Prerequisites: Math 102 — Intermediate Algebra, Math 103 — College Algebra, or consent of instructor. Taught each year.

Geog 207 — World Geography 3

A global approach explaining the modern world's great geographic realms and their human and physical contents. Geography as a discipline is introduced by linking human societies and natural environments through a multicultural, regional perspective. Taught each year.

Geog 208 — North American Geography 3

A regional study of the different physical, economic, and multicultural settings in the U.S. and Canada which form the basis for the various forms of livelihood. Since a basic goal of geography is landscape appreciation, heavy emphasis is placed on landscape description and interpretation, including its sequential development. Taught each year.

Geog 350 — Human Geography 3

This course is designed to introduce students to the study of geography as a social science by emphasizing the relevance of global geographic concepts to human problems. Topics in economic, multicultural, urban-rural, and political geography are addressed regionally and world-wide. Taught as needed.

Geog 294, 494 — Independent Study in Geography 1-3, 1-3

Directed study and research in subject areas of geography for which a student has a special interest. Global and multicultural topics are encouraged. 131

Geog 296, 496 — Field Training in Geography Variable Credit

Field training in cultural geographic methods and on-site data collection. Offered on the basis of student and faculty interest.

Geog 297, 497 — Internship in Geography 3-6, 3-6

Students are placed in agencies which apply the methods and content of geography for the purpose of gaining insight into the connection between academic study and work experiences. The methods which students use to report on their experiences varies by instructor. The number of hours spent as an intern depends on the number of credits. Offered on the basis of student and faculty interest.

Geog 299, 499 — Readings, Special Topics in Geography 1-3, 1-3

Readings and appropriate related projects in single areas of geography or interdepartmental areas. Global and multicultural topics are encouraged. Offered on the basis of student and faculty interest.
