Terry Tempest Williams has been called "a citizen writer," a writer who speaks eloquently on behalf of an ethical stance toward life. Williams is the author of the environmental literature classic, Refuge - An Unnatural History of Family and Place, as well as An Unspoken Hunger - Stories from the Field; Desert Quartet; Leap; Red - Passion and Patience in the Desert; and The Open Space of Democracy. Her new book, Mosaic: Finding Beauty in a Broken World, will be published in 2008.

A powerful story of love, betrayal and honor, “Norma” is a classic of the bel canto tradition, combining lavish vocal splendor with a story of great passion and nobility. Set in ancient Gaul, “Norma” tells of the clash between the Druids and the occupying Romans.

Delong Monke - March 18"Stories of Wisdom"
Featuring: Winnie Stump Delong and Mildred Monke.

DELONG is author of The Story of Dickinson State: the College on the Hill, which details the history of DSU and its significance in the Great Plains.

MONKE is author of North Dakota to India, an account of her life and work in India as a missionary for the American Lutheran Church.

Refreshments following in the Hawks Point Bistro. • Admission is free and open to the public.

"Celebration of History"
Celebration of History - March 25Featuring: local authors Margaret Barnhart, Kathleen Hanna, Brenda Nottestad and Mickey Renner.

BARNHART is a lecturer of English at DSU whose work is featured in Leaning into the Wind, an anthology. Her selection is about growing up and working in a small rural community.

HANNA is an instructor of English at DSU and the author of the novel No Covenants Unkept, the story of a politically conservative, religious family as they raise a son who is determined to become a woman.

NOTTESTAD is a DSU student and the author of The Distorted Mirror, a journal of reflections on her daughter’s eating disorder.

RENNER is a librarian at Dickinson Public High School whose novel Sidewalk Thoughts tells the story of a 50-yr-old woman and her thoughts as she begins to walk as part of her fitness routine.

A reception will follow the event. • Admission is free and open to the public.
