Summer Training Camp

The cross-country training camp is an annual five-to-six day trip that coaches and athletes take to supplement their off-season training on various trail runs, usually leaving from our base camp.  All trips are unique and allow coaches and athletes a few days away from DSU.  It is a great bonding experience for all and is a valuable way to welcome new recruits to the distance running program.  The team has taken camping trips into the scenic Black Hills near Mt. Rushmore and backpacking trips into the mountains at Glacier National Park in Montana and the Teton Mountains in Wyoming.  There is plenty of free time as well, and team members have used this time actively to go fishing, day hiking, or just relaxing and staying in camp getting to know each other.
