Cross Country Coach
Thadd O’Donnell, Head Coach
O’Donnell begins his sixth season as cross country coach for Dickinson State. O’Donnell has been on the coaching staff at DSU for 13 years as the head wrestling coach and assistant football coach (eight years).
O’Donnell received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Dickinson State in 1991 and his master’s degree in physical education and recreation in 1993 from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.
O’Donnell ran cross country for Baker High School in Baker, Montana. He had a top twenty finish his senior year. He has won several road races since then.
O’Donnell and his wife, Tracie, reside in Dickinson with their two children, Danielle and Seth.
Galen Morton, Coach
Morton begins his second season with the Blue Hawks as the sports information director and assistant cross country and track and field coach.
Morton received both his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and his master’s degree in biology from Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif. He has 14 years of experience coaching inner city high school athletes in the Los Angeles area. Many of the distance athletes became L.A. City Champions.
Prior to coming to DSU, Morton served as an assistant coach of cross country and track and field at Occidental College. He also taught biology at two area high schools.
Morton is USA Track and Field (USATF) Level II certified in endurance and sprints/hurdles. He and his wife Rachel have one daughter, Francesca.
